2 Simple Lists to Accelerate Your Success in 2016
Here it is already the end of February, two months out after setting your 2016 goals and aspirations. Rather than checking up on how you are doing, I have two simple but thought-provoking lists that you can do to propel and accelerate your success in 2016.The 25 People Who Can Pull You Forward in 2016I borrowed this idea from Verne Harnish, the Gazelles strategy guru. He simply lists out the 25 people that can help pull him forward in 2016. First, brainstorm the list, and then prioritize these people in order of importance for achieving success in 2016. Then for each person, write out what your relationship strategy is to grow a better healthier relationship in 2016.People on my list include my wife and daughters, my mentors and coaches. You may include those who grow you for career, wealth, learning, spiritual growth, health or just a better attitude. The Gratitude ListThe "People that Pull You Forward" list is just that, a forward, future list for 2016. I learned this second list from my mentor Pastor Chris Kam in Malaysia. He suggests that we should write out the 100 reasons, people, activities, blessings, opportunities, changes and even failures or disruptions we are grateful for in 2016.By doing this activity, you may see trends, people and events that have helped you over the past year. It can also be a great motivator for you to keep up a persistent positive attitude, especially if 2016 has started out as a challenge.Compare these two lists and determine what you may keep doing in 2016 to make it your best year yet.For instance, one disruption I am grateful for is that my training business is rapidly changing and becoming more competitive. On top of this, my principals have new shareholders that view the world and my relationship very differently from over the past 25 years. Disruptive. What seems to be a disruption is truly a blessing. Why? At age 63, I am forced to really learn again and be more creative on how I do business. This disruption has also had me focus to learn how social media, branding and the “Internet of Things” can be leveraged to keep my business competitive.Let’s end with a video Verne Harnish shared with me on how the Internet changing the way we all live.[su_youtube url="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jottDMuLesU"]Assume disruption is part of life and don’t forget to be grateful for those people and events that change, disrupt and accelerate your success in 2016. Have a great week!
