What is Your Vision for 2022? How will You have a Successful Year?

By Michael J Griffin

4 minute read

2021 has been a year of change for most of us because of the Covid pandemic. The year has given many of us time to think and reflect on our lives and our relationships. For some of us the shifts have been subtle, for others seismic.

Let’s take our learning lessons of life in 2021 to motivate us to map out how we will be more successful and even more significant in 2022. You may want to start with the following questions:

  1. How has my life mission or calling changed? Do I need to refine or adjust my life mission and re-write one of higher significance for 2022?

  2. What values and motivators will guide my life and be my compass in 2022?

  3. How have grown as a person in 2021? What changes might come about in 2022 because of your personal growth?

  4. How healthy are your relationships with those around you? Whom might you show greater care and love to? Who might need boundaries for your own emotional health?

  5. Need to change jobs? Need to change career? Need to change boss?

  6. Reviewing your goals you set for 2021, how successful were you in achieving them?

Reflecting on these six questions will determine your focus and goals for 2022. I have created the “Successful Leaders Play Lego” goal sheet for a few years now to help you list out goals that give you a wholesome fruitful life in 2022. It is not about “life balance” but getting the “building blocks” or goals in proper place for home or environment that is healthy.

Remember your personal goals should be measurable or observable, time bound, realistic, and grow you as a person of significance in your spheres of influence.

The “Lego Building Blocks” of personal goals are:

  • Your Family and Relationships

  • Friends and Network

  • Career and Work

  • Generosity

  • Your Leadership

  • Health and Fitness

  • Finance and Stewardship

  • What to Unlearn

  • Spiritual Growth

  • Learning and Growth

  • Holiday & Vacations

  • Crazy Out of the Box

These goals are on the “Successful Leaders Play Lego” goal sheet that you can download here. Use this sheet to capture the key words of your goals, then sleep on it for a few days, and come back to the sheet to flesh out your life goals for 2022.

Share your goals with a trusted family member or coach, get feedback and fine tune again. Finally take out your calendar and mark a day each month to remind you to review your progress in meeting your goals. Every quarter adjust your goals to circumstances that may change in your life. Remember success is not achieving 100% of your goals. Through the years I usually achieve about 70-75% of my goals. This is OK because all year my goals give me focus and motivation to become a better person while strengthening myself and the people and relationships around me.

Begin this weekend! Take time to reflect, answer the six question, and chart your goals for a wholesome 2022!
